I am having serious issues with my install. This is what I have and could use any help you can provide.

2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
Stock HU with no factory amp

Audiocontrol LC2i wired to front speaker outs
RCA split to Kenwood XR-5S 4 channel amp

I just installed and every 2 seconds or so the sound goes off. I have the audiocontrol gain very low and have tried the gains on the amp at all levels with no help. When I plug my ipod directly into the amp with RCA's, the output is clear and no "clipping". I also tried just using a cheap line out converter from the HU and I'm having the same issue with the amp so it's not the LC2i. I have tried all gain levels with no success. The music still cuts out every 1-2 seconds then comes back on. Any help?

Your input voltage from the iPod may be low enough that it will play and the input voltage is greater from your LC2i causing greater power through the amp. My guess is your amp is going into protect mode, shutting off coming back on. Try a better ground. Sometimes a crappy ground will work until you start pushing power through the amp, then it will kick off and on. I'm betting this is it.

Sometimes a ohm reading will be low on a bad ground so not a full proof method of checking. Bad grounds can work under low amp loads. I highly recommend you try a different ground or double check the one you have. Many people have grounded to sheet metal after removing the paint, to figure out the primer "looked" or they "thought" it was sheet metal and in fact it was not. If it doesn't have a luster like stainless, it's not a good ground. Also while your at it, make sure you don't have any single strands of speaker wires crossing over and causing a short condition. Those can happen as well and only manifest under certain circumstances.

Awesome, very good!!! Now what's left is checking your high level inputs (signal from stock unit going to LC2i). Are these wired correctly? Are they in phase, meaning you know which one is positive and which is negative? If not, let me help you determine this. How sure are you that you indeed grabbed a high level speaker signal on all 4 wires????? Check and double check this!!!!

Does it do it on both channels? Did you try unplugging one RCA and testing the other? Is it the same on both sides?

Ok what kind of resistor did you use? Did the guy from AC tell you what to get? I'm assuming you were having this problem before the resistor was implemented and still having it? I'm, not too familiar with some of these OEM headunits. They may be quirky about details like that which wouldn't surprise me.

I haven't tried the resister yet. He said get a 100 ohm, 1/2 watt. I'll try it tomorrow morning.

Try that. Audio Control deals with these issues I'm sure daily and they know how to encorporate their equipment into these OEM system better than any of us. Let us know how it works.
