On July 18, 2012, Shideler Dermatology and Skin Care Center held a skin cancer screening event at MISO Energy in Carmel, IN. The event was from 8am-12pm, and an employee was screened every 10 minutes. During the screening, Dr. Bushong and her nursing assistant would see an employee in a private room. The patient was checked from head to toe for any suspicious moles or growths. If a mole was a cause for concern, Dr. Bushong encouraged patients to visit AAD.org to find a dermatologist near their zip code for follow-up. Each screening lasted about 10 minutes, and then the employee was free to return to work. During check-out, each employee received a bag of skin cancer information and free samples of sunscreen.
Skin cancer screening events are a great way to raise skin cancer awareness among employees and a huge?convenience?to employees who may have moles they have been meaning to get checked. ?If you?re interested in hosting a similar event at your job, please let your HR department know to call us at 317-846-2396 to coordinate the event.
